September Photo Challenge

September is nearly here. Can you feel a little taste of fall in the air yet? I spied a few yellow leaves in my backyard just this morning!

And do you know what this means? Prepare for the onslaught of all the pumpkin everythings! You know it’s true, right?

Every year about this time I say fall is my favorite season of the year. But then every spring I say the same thing. There’s something about the splendor found in nature as it prepares for a season of dormancy that draws me in and gives me hope. Not only is new life beautiful, so is the end of a season of life as it makes way for the new growth.

Each month here at Middle Places we’ve offered a photo challenge and this month is no different. We’d love for you to join us! Simply save this photo and snap a pic of one or all 30 of the challenges, then add the hashtag #middleplaces to your photo description when you post it on Instagram. Participate as much or as little as you like. For your convenience, we’ve also offered a phone lock screen sized image as well.

Why do we have a photo challenge? Because … we’re a faith-based blog and isn’t that a little shallow? Ummm … well, maybe. But the truth is, we all have these phones in our lives. We use them every day, sometimes every hour. We use them to communicate, to connect, to learn, to read, and more. Why not use them to help us practice gratitude? Because I think a photo challenge is a pretty perfect way to practice gratitude. Look at each daily challenge as an opportunity to be thankful for a way God has provided so graciously for you. If you tried that for 30 days, how might it change you?

Our theme this month at Middle Places is Serving. As women, we may often find ourselves stretched thin with all of the serving that we do. Use this month and maybe this challenge to help you focus on all the ways you are currently serving–your family, your friends, your community, your church. Are you serving somewhere that it’s time to release? Or maybe you’ve felt a calling to serve for a long time and haven’t been brave enough to accept the challenge? Or perhaps you’ve been serving somewhere for so long that you have lost your joy? Wherever you are in the middle of serving, I hope this photo challenge will help you be grateful for those opportunities and renew you joy!
