I love summer. Until I’m done with the hot. And then I love fall. Until it gets cold. I love the stillness of winter. Until my toes freeze and feel like they’ll fall off. I love spring. After the daffodils have finished blooming because I’m allergic to them. So really, I love all the seasons. Mostly. But even more than that I like to be warm. Not hot. Just warm. And so I like summer the best. At least that’s what I think today. As I sit in the comfort of my AC.
As we’ve just officially been thrown into summer in full swing, let’s celebrate. Roll out those lazy hazy crazy days of summer! And take some pictures while you’re at it!
Isn’t it fun to take pictures during the summer? There’s nothing as cute as chubby little toddler legs splashing in kiddie pools. And then there are those pictures we take as our kids set off for a week at camp. And our trips to the beach. And fun summer vacations. Summer is often a time for adventuring and family time, both of which I love!
Here at Middle Places, we’ve been hosting a monthly photo challenge for over three years. What started as a simple November gratitude challenge took off into something quite lovely. I’ve re-evaluated it often to make sure it still fits with who we are and what we are about. And I still think it does. Middle Places is all about sharing our stories. We do that through words, but we also do that through photographs.
I also believe one of the most powerful ways to grow our relationship with Jesus is to practice being grateful for what He has given us. And for me, our photo challenges have been a prompt to do just that in my life. Of course, that isn’t a cure-all for a person struggling with her faith. But I do believe it helps put me in a better frame of mind when I am reminded daily to be grateful for what I have.
Screensaver available in our Members’ Resource Library. Join today! It’s free.
For each day there’s a prompt. Simply find something to go with that prompt, snap a pic and add the hashtag #middleplaces over on Instagram. It’s that easy. (Remember, if your permissions are set to private, only your friends will be able to see it.)
