Thanksgiving Gratitudes & Graces

I love this day of feasting and celebrations, spending time with family, stories told around the table, stuffed bellies, abundance and gratitude. And do you know what else I love? I love all the beautiful words that have happened here on Middle Places as this group of amazing ladies have shared about what Thanksgiving means to them.

gratitude-and-grace

So if you missed a post and you’re wiling away the time between innings of the football games, procrastinating doing the dirty dishes and cleaning up the kitchen that looks like it exploded, or you’re waiting for the bazillionth commercial to be over during the Macy’s parade, here’s a little bit of reading for you:

This holiday season I'm giving YOU permission to play to your strengths, to stick to the tasks that fall in your wheelhouse. Lindsey encourages you to taste the freedom!

Thanksgiving pants...you know those stretchy ones with lots of grace for overeating? What if there's an equivalent for life?

Just like to-tight pants stretching across overstuffed bellies on Thanksgiving day, life doesn’t always fit just right. Dana has an idea about what you should be wearing instead.

Sometimes the holidays carry reminders of all who aren't present to pull up a chair to the feast. Anna is learning how to find hope in the middle of that.

Holidays are just hard, people. A gathering of family doesn’t always equal warm fuzzy feelings. But there’s enough grace to make your gathering beautiful.

Practice thanksgiving...making room for new traditions. Because sometimes the old ones have gaps.

Sometimes we have to make new traditions because the old ones just don’t fit our season of life or they have left us feeling like something special is missing. Maybe it’s time to make room for new traditions.

The thanksgiving chain...because what better time to give thanks than the season from Thanksgiving to Christmas?

This is such a great activity and a potential new tradition to help your family focus on gratitude all through the holiday season. Will you join us?!

All of the Middle Sisters wish you and your families a safe, happy celebration as we launch from a day of Thanksgiving into the season of giving. We hope you’ll embrace the things you do well, drop old traditions that only cause stress, revel in the ordinary everyday moments, remember the One who has blessed us so very lavishly and remember that stuff is just stuff. But the Kingdom…that’s for eternity.

Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good. His love endures forever. 1 Chronicles 16:34

And Christmas is coming! A month from today it will just be a (hopefully) sweet memory. As you set out to conquer on Black Friday, Small Business Saturday or Cyber Monday, keep in mind this season doesn’t have to own you.

Family...we love them. We hug them. They make us want to pull out our hair. But we love them. And we say this over and over as we head into the busiest time of the year.

On Yes's, Busyness & Holidays...we all need a little grace. Love this reminder!

Dear future self…we can do this. We truly can. But here’s a few things I want you to remember. Because you don’t need to keep making the same mistakes over and over. We all need a little grace!

Show me the money...I crave the comfort, yet despise it's control over me. I *know* it's a tool, but have a hard time really knowing it in my heart.

Money? Man…money can be such a stressor during the holidays. Or it can be the cause of some deep-seeded pride. Let’s talk about it for a minute, shall we?

When your joy gets sucked out of the holidays...because expectations and reality WILL collide.

Sometimes the joy gets suck right out of our holidays. And that old saying “When momma ain’t happy, ain’t nobody happy.” Well, lots not show our family what that looks like.

thoughts on the value of authenticity while maintaining healthy boundaries...

Healthy boundaries are so important during the holidays. And seriously…can we all just stop saying “I’m fine” and tell the truth?! Authenticity during the holidays…yeah. We need some more of that, too.

And let's not forget about how we need to notice God in the middle of ordinary days. I love this beautiful reminder from Rachel.

We all need a little grace for the holidays. But there's joy in this season of giving & gratitude.Click To Tweet
